I have felt embarrassed getting this but finally thought about posting my current issue. My boyfriend and I are still virgins but have done other sexual activities with only each other (including oral sex, etc). We have not done such intimate activities with anyone else prior to our relationship.

Not sure if this is relevant at all but... For the past month, I have gotten the common cold and followed by another flu/cold after the first problem receded. So I have been rather weak. I didn't have medication for the cold, but when i got hit by another flu/cold I took Robitussin.

So, just last week wednesday and friday, my boyfriend and I had oral sex. This wasn't our first time. But on saturday, I began noticing a slight itch. It didn't really bother me, so i ignored it. Sunday came along and the itch got a tad bit worse. I checked down there and there weren't any lumps or extreme redness. No discharge or pain upon urinating. All i could feel and know was that my inner and outer lips were itchy. I have checked for pinworms, but no signs of it.

I cannot see a doctor as my period is coming very soon. But I plan on seeing one once I'm off my monthly. I am using vagisil feminine wash when i take a shower every other day. Do you know what this may be? And what else I can do to relieve the itch for the time being?

I'm so embarrassed to talk to my mother about it Sad But may need to if things don't get better.

The very first thing is that you should not be embarrassed to talk to your mother about it. She wants only the best for you, and she's got a lot of experience. So if you need help, just ask. Tell her that you are embarrassed talking to her, or write her a note. Neither she nor a doctor can tell that you masturbate or enjoy oral sex unless you tell them.

Robitussen is also used by women trying to get pregnant to increase the cervical mucus discharge and make it more runny. So it is quite possible that the extra fluid is keeping you damp and irritated as well.

My own personal preference is to wash with fingers and clean water only. Wash in every crease and fold, and under your clitoris hood. Use your feminine wash only on the outside, on your outer lips. Remember that your vagina (the hole and 'pipe' inside your body does not need any washing. Getting things like douche, soap and feminine wash inside there is not good. Wear cotton panties with a full crotch (not a string panty) to absorb your wetness during the day. Sleep without panties if it is safe.

If you shave, that could also cause some irritation and itching, as can your friend's beard stubble during oral sex.

Make sure your panties are well rinsed out after washing. Soap residue can irritate you.

You also need to rule out a yeast infection. A yeast infection will come with a chunky and cottage cheese like discharge.

You can use an ice pack wrapped in cloth (to prevent ice burns) to relieve some itching. You can also try the 3 day yeast infection treatment (Monistat 3, avoid the one day treatement).

Best of luck!
