I've had a small mole on my stomach all my life that has always been round and brown and slightly raised. One morning i woke up and it was itching and stinging and it turned dark black and scabbed up and 2 days later it fell off. It not just looks like a healing brown scar with a red dot in the middle and the mole hasn't grown back but it itches like crazy all the time and I feel slight pain in my stomach under the skin where it is whenever I bend over. It did this same exact thing when I was 14 years old but the mole grew back and was normal and brown after that until now. This time it has not turned back into a mole yet. I tried looking everywhere online and even the doctor didn't pay much attention to it- he thought I had just scratched it or something.. Help anyone??

In general, any pigmented lesions (including moles) that change in size, shape, or color should be biopsied. Similarly, any spontaneous bleeding or itching associated with a pigmented ski lesion should also lead to a biopsy, to rule-out melanoma.
