Last year I had a very bad yeast infection. Itchy, swollen, sore, smelling very strongly of yeast/bread. I had a discharge that was less like cottage cheese and more like just a build up of something that was drying out. After a week or two I finally got to the doctor, used a prescription cream and pill and it knocked it down to 1% of the problem it had been, leaving me with a slight smell of yeast/bread and almost no discharge.

This continued for a year...I know, I should have gone back to the doc much sooner. I went back again because I was going to become sexually active again and if I'm infected with something I don't want to pass it on. At this point it's just a bit of this discharge, no itching or anything else that points to a yeast infection. Had the swab done, the doc listed about seven types of bacteria that it WASN'T... gave me a prescription for a two dosages of a pill that was supposed to knock it right out then a few days later make sure it was 100% gone. This now knocked it down to almost nothing.

**WARNING, I'M ABOUT TO DESCRIBE SOMETHING NOT SO PLEASANT**

I'm only sharing this because these are the two ways I even notice the discharge anymore and it's very slight. The first way is if I scrape with my finger/fingernail I get a film that looks almost clear but when consolidated(lack of a better word) turns into more of a thick white clump. The other way is if I masturbate and scrape there is a lot of very thick, clear ejaculate that when I spread it between two fingers in a weblike fashion(I really apologize for the TMI) I get a clear wall of the ejaculate with a little splotch of a white creamy discharge. I really want to include a picture because it looks so weird. The smell is so so slight and like I said there's no irritation or anything like a yeast infection.

The other thing I've noticed is that since the initial yeast infection I don't get wet like I used to when I was turned on and everything in my vagina is always very, very thick. I don't know if that's normal. After the first infection I changed my diet, stopped eating so much sugar, no more fast food, no more pop, drinking more water, but none of that has seemed to help.

My doctor doesn't seem to find anything weird about it, but I don't have the money to run out and get a second opinion from another doctor so if anyone has any idea, pleeeeeease I beg of you help me!! And I apologize for being so candid but after a year and a half of this I need to bring it to an end.

get checked at GYN for BV, STDs, etc
hi,

Did you get tested for STD's. You should def do that if you haven't - best to rule that out. While you're there get tested for BV. My hunch is it's probably BV (google it) but you should get tested for everything just to be certain...get a pap test too while you're at it.

BV's sometimes tricky to detect, doesn't always have a fishy odor, can be obtained in various ways, and even some idiot doctors can fail to think of it as a possibility/overlook it, or even miss obvious symptoms completely unless they specifically test for it. Sometimes you can ask to be prescribed meds for it "just in case" and they'll just give em to you at the GYN - it's somewhat common. A Rx, metrogel , is used to treat it, but it also throws off your balance, so it can start a viscious cycle of recurrence and not clearing up fully unless you take specific probiotics to restore the balance in your vag. There's a brand called Femdophilous that you can get at the health food store....it might take a month to restore your balance...don't stop taking them...you have to take em everyday, and they stay refrigerated.

Possible cause---have you had (particularly unprotected) sex with an uncircumsized dude? If so, it could be that his smegma (foreskin bacteria)introduced some nasty bacterial to your vag, and this can be kinda hard to get rid of. There's no formal treatment for a guy except circumsicion, and washing (doesn't work) but you can try cleaning his penis head with hydrogen peroxide before and after EVERY act. YOu can even get infections elsewhere from the smega. It can include stuff like ecoli and staph...it gets trapped under the head and can even affect you if he wears condoms. Read up on smega. Until then, avoid sex with anyone uncircumsized, wear cotton crotches, nothing tight or wet and do a full course of metrogel + start on the Fem-dophilous. That should help.

Goodluck,

L

Thanks! I should have mentioned that when I first went to the doctor she did treat me for Bacterial Vaginosis at which point I used both a cream (can't remember what it was called..) and the same pill she gave me the second time, fluconazole 150mg. The second time I went she wrote me a prescription for one pill and six refills, "just in case it comes back so you don't have to make another appointment to get the pill." Should I have taken that as a hint that she doesn't really know what it is and wants me off her back?

This all started while I was inactive sexually and I've heard you can't really catch things from toilet seats, so could it still be an STD? I plan on making an appointment with a GYN instead of my regular doctor just for the sake of booting this thing in the ass once and for all by someone that probably knows more of what they're talking about.
