I had unprotected sex with my gf and she had taken i pill within 72 hrs. Generaly when she took this pill bleeding comes but this time no bleeding is seen . Is it okay? Or is ther any chance of pregnant.

Hi, and thanks for your query on eHealth forum!

The emergency contraceptive pills act by preventing or delaying ovulation and hence are not effective in preventing fertilization if ovulation has occurred. The pills will also not act if there is an established pregnancy. Also a woman may or may not get withdrawal bleeding after taking these pills. If her periods delay beyond 6-7 days, please ask her to take a pregnancy test, using a good quality kit. Hope this helps. Take care!
