Most people have had problems with pain from the mesh around 2000 but here in 2009, is the mesh they use more reliable?

It is not so much a matter of the "reliability" of mesh, but rather the fact that there are several sensory nerves that are located directly in the area where inguinal (groin) hernias occur, and where the surgeon must suture the mesh in place. If these nerves are either traumatized during the surgery, or if they become caught up in the scar tissue that forms as the body heals from the surgery, then chronic pain can arise.
