Is it safe to release the sperm inside the vagina during the woman's period or after considering her regular 28 day cycle?

Hi,
Welcome to ehealthforum.
For a menstrual cycle of 28 days, the fertile period or possible time of egg release and pregnancy lies between day 6th-18th taking day 1 as first day of bleeding. During this time any intercourse can lead to pregnancy. It is better to start with regular contraceptive use if pregnancy has to be avoided. Withdrawal method and rhythm method is associated with high failure rates.
