So, i just recently joined this forum in efforts to really make me overcome my battle of depression and anixety of 21 years. alot has happened to me in the past 4 years many traumatic experiences and poor decisions; i finally hit rock bottom. im seeing a therapist who is wonderful really gets me to think about past issues and how to cope with new issues in a more effective way. as well im on wellbutrin and for once i actually feel like this medication is right for me. Overall, i just want to know is depression a life long disease will i always have to think about it or worry as if i might get worse or will i hit rock bottom again? Like in a couple years ill be done school with a great job hopefully one day have a family i dont want to be so worried or focused about depression...ugh just want it to go away. any positive advice would be great!

I've come to this forum for similar issues, among others. I can say that depression is not a life long sentence, if you know how to cope properly with it. In other terms, if you find a way out of anxiety and depression, or just an ease on it, then you should be fine.

Thanks yeah just trying to really enjoy life for once and not be so god damn worried all the time and compare myself to everyone. I just got out of a really horrible relationship and that in itself plus with my depression has taken a toll on me. Ah i just dont want to have negative thoughts anymore and not too be worried about it in the future.

With me, I always seem to be worrying about trivial matters. They make no sense to discuss, let alone build anxiety over. It always puzzled me.

yeah as long as i know im not the only one with the same issues i know everyone has their own insecurities but lately i feel like they have been controlling my life. it really is so pity and trivial the things we over analyze all this stress is defin not mentally or physically healthy, geez i never thought depression could really have that much of an affect on you.

It is lifelong/chronic.... but that doesn't mean you can't get out of the depression and stop letting it rule you. With treatment, it can be managed!! You'll always have to deal with some kind of treatment/management, but you can live depression/free. Hang in there!!!

Welcome to the boards Smile

I know that depression is lifelong. Even though I am getting treatment now, I find that I am still depressed. Sometimes it is even scary to think that I will not depressed b/c depression has been my entire life and personality for so long. I developed depression when I was in the sixth grade and it has not stopped for very long since.

It\'s understandable to have concerns like that, in cases such as depression or addiction or other lifestyles that people grow accustomed to. But it really sounds like you\'re on the right track- getting good treatment... looking forward to the future. It sounds like things are really going to work out well for you! Just keep being proactive- stick with the therapist who is helping you, keep up on your medication check ups, and you\'ll make it. And discuss your fears with your therapist- about what life will be like without depression, she\'ll help put your mind at ease, I\'m sure. Smile
