so i have been tested, colonoscopy, blood tests, and transvaginal ultrasounds, all negative, i did an hiv test to help with having peace in my mind, also negative. I have this pain in my stomach that seems worse after meal or when it has become full of gass (gassy) when you breath air i think you still can have gas in your stomach... i asked my gi doctor for upper gi series/gastroscopy but after a physical exam, he said i don't need it..., from the colonoscopy he could determine i have ibs. he gave me medicine for ibs, to ease my symptoms. I was given antidipressants but i stopped taking them because they used to make me sleepy all the time. I read it takes time for ibs to ease the symptoms, i had a lot of stress, my periods were light, this period is between normal and heavy however..i was told that my stress has effected my period and my bowels, but since twus are normal , i can rule out, desease like ovarian mass, i also had a normal ca125 too, i did more than one 1 tvu..and a pap smear. am i obssessing too much about having a lot of tests??? actually gastroscopy is the only tests that's left t6o do...but doctors there are sure it's ibs, i saw more than one doctor, and a gi specialist.
thanks any openions

hello ibs is not nice and you may feel fatigued with it but although no cure it shall settle down with your medication..i was prescibed mebevarine for mine which is another name for colifac and a good high fibre diet.
the main factor is anxiety and stress i lost count the number of times i sat with hot water bottle on my tummy but back pain was just as bad.
stay away from fried foods as they really kick it off and you may find your appetite reduced and heartburn.
hope this info helps you.
good luck

all doctors say it's ibs but i still insist in having a gastro..
hi sorry to post again, do you think i should head on for a gastroscopy and upper gi series? i know i must spend some days in hospital to do them all at once..or have two separate appointents but since i work and have no vacation left i must plan the leave too book a hospital stay only if gastroscopy and upper gi series would be necessary, i'm 32 by the way, and the age where upper gi problems would occur is over 55 i read on the net..but nto sure, i had colonscopy and full body ultrasound, i was going for the ct scan but the doctor would not accept, just ultrasound...he tells me sonography still shows images of abnormalities, the difference that mri or ct scan are scans done by the rays not sonography so the image is more accurate but they explained me, they would do these type of tests (ct scans) only if the doctors physical exam means he is suspecting something or the ultrasound is abnormal...they told me ct scans with no reason to it, can mean a danger to your health...,
i did breast and transvaginal ultrasound (4 times), ultrasound of the pancreas and gall bladder (twice), kidneys, bladder etc.. all abdomen, doctor also visited me for physical examination of brain by looking at the pupil and reflexes.., various blood tests all came normal.. the doctor concluded that what i'm experiancing is all in my head and ibs is common, so he gave me movicol , symptoms tend to be worse during a meal (stomach disconfort) or period times (more symptoms of constipation or diharrea or bouts of both)i always feel like i have eaten a basket ball.. lol , anyway my gi doctor says i dn't need further tests then colonscopy and the test i mentioned, so the other doctors say the same, i visited 10 gp's, who said ibs, the gi doctor who examined me during my hospital stay, with ultrasound scans, and a colonoscopy and blood tests, one of them was calcium and ca125 came normal...i wasn't tested for celiac because i was told that celiacs get diharea not constipation, and it's true i t6hink coz my friend has celiac and is all the time going. she also did colonsocopy and was given a gatroscopy because it is a must for celiacs not ibssers though, a biopsy is taken from their stomach to tested for cd, and she tested positive.
if i need gastrocopy and upper gi series, or to tell my gi doctor to do them let me know.! better be safe than sorry i think!!
