Irregular periods turned Regular ?

Quick history: At 16, fully developed, I still hadn't gotten my period. The docs put me on hormones, then birth control, and I got perfectly regular periods! In my mid-twenties I went off all the hormones to see what would happen. The result: I got my period! But irregularly, and only ever 4 or 5 months. More recently (the last 2 years or so?), my cycle shortened to about 3.5 months, quite regularly.
But last month, to my surprise, my period came after only 2.5 months! And this morning, to my true shock, it came after only 27 days! (p.s. I am now 29 yrs. old)

What is this? Can I jump for joy? Or should I be concerned?

Hi,
Welcome to ehealthforum.
I would recommend you to observe your periods for atleast two more cycles. If they seem to fall into a pattern of every 28-30 days, then yes, you can jump for joy that your periods are regularized. The irregular periods usually happen due to anovulatory cycles (without egg getting released from the ovary). With time it gets regularized due to periodic ovulation egg release from ovary).
Take care.
