Okay, hope all this makes sense and everyone can follow it. I am 32 yo and the mother of a 12 yo daughter. (Second pregnancy was terminated do to medical issues at the time 7 years ago.) Back in December 2007 I was dx. with HSV and was placed on Valtrex, yee haw. I was in a very stressful relationship that ended in Feb. 2008. Stress is not unusual for me and it is no more then I am used to and actually it is less now. Okay so here is my prob. In Feb. after my relationship ended my period was about 3 days late, no too terribly uncommon, but I got it and it was normal. Then in March is was a week later than when it started the month before. Okay, kinda weirded out by this. Then in April, it was about 5 days later then the month before. Getting really concerned. By May it is right on the 28 day mark and I settled with my body was just resetting itself. (At this point period is now 2 weeks later than the "routine/ set your watch to it" schedule I had been on for over 10 yrs) June and July came and my period remained on the 28 day mark. COOL. Well during my July period I had the Mirena put in place. Had unprotected sex with my boyfriend after period stopped the next week b/c literature says it is immediately effective. 10 days after insertion I spot for two days, light pink tinge when wiping. I chocked it up to body getting used to foreign object. ( I read all the pamplets.) Okie dokie, so now it is 31 days later, no period. Strings are still there. Only thing I have is light brown tinge when wiping. According to everything I have read, cessation of your period with Mirena comes usually 6-12 months after insertion.

I have always been regular with my periods since I was 11 yo. I have only missed about 4-5 periods in the last 21 yrs and 2 times was for pregnancies. The other missed periods doctors just chocked up to "We don't know. You were sick and on meds." So my questions result into; why at 32 yo has my periods been so irregular for the last 6 months and can I start missing periods the first month after the Mirena insertion?

Do I need to find another gyno b/c this one doesn't seem to understand my concern?
