Q: Irregular periods - perimenopause ?

I am 37 years old and I have not been sexually active for a year now. For two months in a row I had periods that lasted 9 days. They weren't heavy and I didn't experience clotting or anything like that, they were just longer than normal. This month I am late for my period and yesterday evening when I went to the bathroom there was some light bleeding but still no period. I am having bloating and lower back pain and mood swings and swelling of my breasts and cramping and I feel like it wants to start, it just isn't. Could this be a sign that I am in perimenopause or something more serious like cervical cancer. Any information that you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Jennikay,

Fasten your seat belt, it's gonna be a moooooooooody ride. It sure sounds like this is the beginning of not so beautiful relationship (lol). I think you are entering into perimenopause stage.

However, there is life after the bigggggggggg MMMMM. Make an appointment with your OB/GYN to confirm. There are many options to offset the hotflashes, bloating, etc...

Good Luck,

Faded Rose
