Hi,
Welcome to the ehealthforum and I am glad to help you out. I can understand your concern regarding the empty sac on ultrasound. When an ultrasound shows no yolk sac, the reason may be miscarriage but it could also be that the pregnancy is still early. The yolk sac appears around 5.5 weeks of gestation, and seeing no yolk sac on an ultrasound could simply mean that the pregnancy is not yet 5.5 weeks along. Research also suggests that a gestational sac larger than 13 mm that contains no yolk sac means the pregnancy is not viable, so when the sac is larger than this and there is no yolk sac, then miscarriage is a likely possibility. I suggest you a gynecologistâs consultation and a follow up ultrasound especially after a wait of few weeks.
It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.
