irregular contractions

I am so confused... I have been having contractions all day. The kind that don't change when you move and get more intense when you're walking. The thing is that they'll be like 20 minutes apart for like 3 hours and then just all of a sudden stop! It's driving me crazy! I wish they'd either stay or leave completely because I'm getting my hopes up... why is this happening? any opinions?

If your past the first trimester, you get braxton hicks which are practice contractions. When you go into active labour you feel them, its a really strong period cramp.

I do suggest if you are worried to call your doctor and good luck!

These sound like braxton hicks contractions to me, like diamond said. I agree with her, if you are worried, call your doctor.
They say that things are fine until they are steady at 5 minutes apart.

These could also be early labor, since you are nearly 40 weeks. Some women experience this prolonged early labor before actual labor comes on. I hope it is causing some cervical changes for you!

Good luck.

Yeah, I saw my doctor and she agreed with you Ingi. She said that it's "early" labor and it's starting to dilate and efface me. I am 2 cm and 50%. Thanks for the help!
