Heavy periods (hypermenorrhea), irregular bleeding (metrorrhagia) and dizziness are not signs of pregnancy. You can do a pregnancy test to make sure yourself. Metrorrhagia can be due to organic or functional reasons.

Organic reasons could be:
1. Uterine reasons: endometriosis, complicated pregnancy, infections, tumors (myomas, polyps, cancers), IUD, hormonal contraception…, and
2. Extra-uterine reasons: coagulation disorders, cirrhosis, endocrine disorders (thyroid, hypofisis, obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disorders, certain medicines, etc.

Functional reasons are usually due to certain disturbances in the axis hypothalamus-pituitary-ovaries.

You need to be examined by a gynecologist to find out the reason for this irregular bleeding. Clinical examination, pregnancy test, microbiological smear, PAP-test, standard blood analyses, ultrasound scan, endometrial biopsy and curettage are usually required.
