Hi there,
For about a month now ive been experiencing various symptoms. Mostly everyday im uncomfortably short of breath, especially after even the slightest activity. Along with this ive noticed ive been having palpitations, one night i could suddenly hear my heartbeat pounding in my ears and it was beating very irregular. It felt like it was making 2 beats in quick succession, a kind of "flip flopping" feeling. I do not consume caffeine and i was in bed at the time. I get fatigued easily and i seem to be running a low grade fever.

When i exhale ive noticed im wheezing constantly.
Although i have asthma its mild and im medicated for it. The wheezing and shortness of breath dont respond to my asthma medicine but i really dont think this is whats causing my symptoms. My Doctor tells me people with asthma dont have a constant wheeze and that something must trigger it. My wheeze is consistent and always present even when im not feeling short of breath.

Ive also been having strange episodes where il inhale then il feel a pressure build up in my heart and it will beat once, very hard accompanied by dizziness and pressure in my chest and tachycardia.
All these symptoms are amplified greatly by exercise and im usually left unable to catch my breath with heart palpitations hours after any exercise.
Im worried i have a heart valve disorder or something like myocarditis.

Im a 19 yr old male, 5ft 8, 144lbs non-smoker non-drinker.

Thanks in advance for your time and help.

Do you sometimes wake up in the night short of breath for no reason?
Have you done an ECG?
Are you on any other medications, including complimentary medicines, herbs etc?
Are you hypertensive?
How feverish are you?

My shortness of breath has never woken me up in the middle of the night, i had an ECG about 4 months ago with different symptoms, results were normal.
Im not on any other medications.
My blood pressure is normal i think (had it checked last time i was at the doctors office about 2 months ago)
My fever is pretty mild.

I havnt had an ECG with any of the symptoms i have currently.

Has a doctor listened to your heart recently, especially after breathing in (splitting s1/2 sounds)?
Where do you live? Have you traveled outside of the country?
You can potentially rule out an acute heart failure and mitral valve prolapse (no orthopnoea, but this is non-specific).

Extremely eHealthy
Palpitations can occur without heart disease or as a result of abnormal heart rhythms.
Abnormal heart rhythm can give symptoms of dizziness, fainting, shortness of breath, or chest pain.
Asthma symptoms may vary from one asthma attack to the next, usually, having different symptoms at different times.
Chest tightness, pain, or pressure are asthma symptoms.
Feeling tired, feeling moody, being unable to exercise properly (getting short of breath even after slightest activity), are uncommon symptoms of asthma.

It is good to know that heart palpitations can be side effect of certain asthma medications.

Have you been tested for your thyroid gland function?
Do you have recent informations about your blood cell count?
