Q: Introducing cat to new home...

Hi all!
So I have a 5-year-old male kitty who is my BABY, but when I moved in with my now husband last year, I had to leave him at my parents' because we thought my husband was allergic. We've since discovered that he does NOT appear to be allergic to cats, or if he ever indeed was. So, needless to say, I'm hoping to bring my baby home with me! I'm just hoping to get some tips on how to introduce him to his new home comfortably. He is neutered & declawed. He's lived with 2 older female cats his whole life, which is my main source of worry. They don't pay much attention to him anyway, but I'm a little concerned that he'll be lonely here without another cat around. We do have a guinea pig, but obviously she's caged and would probably appeal to him more as a toy than a friend!
He also can be a little skittish/nervous, so I want to make the transition as easy as possible for him. Are there any suggestions anybody has to make it easier on him? Do you think he'd be okay as the only cat for a while? Thanks in advance for any advice. curtsey

I think he will be fine being the only cat. When I moved my cat who was at the time 9, to a new home by herself she did fine. she liked to explore at first to find everything she could. I started her off in a smaller room with the door shut (it was the room with her litter box in it so she could get used to tthat too). they gradually let her explore more and more.

I think the majority of time cats would prefer to be alone.

Awhile ago, I had one kitty and a guinea pig. They'd curl up and sleep together.
