Q: Internal and external hemorrhoids

Could anyone please help me. I'm 29 years old and have hemorrhoids back in the past. Usually ointments and suppositories have help but the hemorrhoids do come back after a long time. I guess i used to strain in the past but no more.

Recently I had internal hemorrhoids whereby the doctor told me to use Proctosedyl ointment and suppositories. For a week it was all good with minor bleeding but after the medication has gone the hemorrhoids reoccur with bleeding. I was told by chemists not to use Proctosedyl as they have an ingredient which doesn't allow internal hemorrhoids to heal and the bleeding won't stop.

I've then changed to Anusol ointment and suppositories.

Now.. there is no bleeding, but there are external hemorrhoids.

I am currently taking metamucil and fybogel to increase my fibre. Plenty of excercise and plenty of water and vegetables. I'm also chewing my food thoroughly for digestion.

Am I on the right track to being healed ? Or does this seem to be going in the opposite direction.

It sounds like you are going in the right direction. One of the most common treatment for external hemorrhoids is sitz bath. Has your doctor recommended that? Sometimes that and wiping with witch hazel is all you need for external hemorrhoids.

Using that and your dietary improvements might take you the rest of the way.
