I am 15 weeks pregnant and have intermittent light brown spotting. 2 days ago I rested the whole day and the next day I was clear. That day I had to work and go on 2 doctor visits, worked hard in the kitchen, then today I woke up again to brown spotting. I visited my dr. yesterday and she did a smear test to send in to the labs to see if I have a vaginal infection, however I notice when I don\\\'t do as much activity, I don\\\'t get the spotting. Is this common at this point of pregnancy? I\\\'m 38, btw and already one m/c. Thank you.

Welcome to the ehealthforum and I am really glad to help you out. Your concern is regarding the spotting that you are having in pregnancy. Slight spotting is common during pregnancy. During pregnancy the cervix becomes more sensitive and engorged with blood. Any trauma even slight like in intercourse or during pelvic examination or transvaginal examination can cause bleeding after intercourse.

The other possibility is of threatened miscarriage. If the bleeding becomes severe or is associated with any cramps, then the chances of miscarriage are there. Immediate medical intervention is then required.
