Every once in a while (two weeks or so) I will have short bouts of chest pain of about 15 minutes long. It will be sharp from my chest where my ribs meet to the back and slightly upwards, where the pain gets sharper as it goes back and up. The last time this happened I had it mildly but all day which I attributed to lack of sleep and alcohol consumption the night before. In the short bouts, drinking something seems to help the pain go away completely. However in those short bouts the pain is sometimes so severe that it is hard to breathe and even stand or walk around. I've gone to an allergist and they seemed to brush it off and am about to go to the doctor later in the week, but I can't help but wonder.
