Q: Intermittent back spasms

I have been having these pains for over two years, and they have been getting worse lately. Doctors in the past have said it must be kidney related as the pain started in my mid back to the right but has now spread to the left as well. I have been to see the doctor lately and he could not diagnose what is exactly the problem, so he sent me to have an ultra sound. My kidney's are perfectly fine in all aspects eg size, no cysts, no stones. Again i have had this pain today. I am so confused to what it may be, it will only last for about ten minutes but in that time, i will be curled up on the floor, and not being able to breath properly. Question

Is it possible that it could be a muscle spasm? Ask the doctor if that could be the issue. In that case, physical therapy could help.

Did they ultrasound your gallbladder? Gallstones can cause pain in the back or even the shoulder (not always under the right ribs). Does anything specific bring on the pain? Stress, food, lifting, coughing, deep breaths? Do you have any other symptoms? Nausea, shortness of breath at other times, cough, stomach pain?

I have IBS so yes i do have stomach pains. when they did the ultrasound i did say they were scanning the wrong place so it was obvious it was not my kidneys. but they didn't check. but these pains literally come and go randomly. everyone is confused by it.
