I believe my condition of herniated discs in my lower back started when I was pregnant with my 2nd child in 1992. I remember being laid up for about 2 weeks at the end of my pregnancy after raking some leaves in the yard, twisting and putting out my back. Since then I have been in hospital a couple times on morphine after similar incidents and spent much of my life trying to find therapies and pills that would help to give me back some quality to my life by relieving the spasm and pain.

A couple years ago I came across a TENS machine at a trade show and strapped it to my back and turned it on. I found that while I was wearing it the pain was reduced, but as soon as I took it off the pain returned. It only seemed to work while wearing it... which led me on a search for something in electrotherapy that may work a little better than TENS.

After much googling I started emailing a man called Tim Watson a UK professor that specialises in Electrotherapy and learnt about Interferential treatment. Interferential treatment works at a higher frequency to stimulate the nerves in the spine to send a message to the brain to reduce pain. It rewire's the pain message so to speak, it is called 'the pain gate method'.

As I am Australian there were no machines in Australia that I could afford to purchase that were interferential quality and so went looking overseas for a solution.

I am pleased to say that I purchased a machine from overseas that is about the same size of TENS but is a fully functioning Interferential machine.

I found that if i gave myself a treatment 3 times a day for a week at the correct frequencies the spasm and the pain reduced and unlike the TENS machine when I was not wearing it, the pain relief was still there.

Since then I have purchased several machines for my family and friends for different types of pain conditions and have found that it is most effective for most people.

I am currently putting together research of different conditions and applications of the Interferential to help others find the same type of relief and quality of life I have through using this therapy.

If anyone on this board has used interferential and has a story to share about how it has benefited you and your condition, could you please PM me and let me know about it.

Also if anyone would like to ask me any questions I am happy to answer.

Thank you for having me here on your wonderful forum. I look forward to your responses.
