Hey guys, i'm 17 and I found out about my mum having Multiple sclerosis about 3 weeks ago and I was just wanting to know something

Was wondering if Multiple sclerosis can be given by birth if the person wasn't even diognosed before I was born? Because I'm not sure about this.

Please try and help me?

Thanks,
Boden.

MS is not a contagious disease. You can't contract MS by contact with another person so you couldn't have caught it from your mom at birth. It's not a genetic disorder either, so just because she has MS, it doesn't mean that you will get it. However, there is some evidence that suggests that people with a family history of MS may be more susceptible to the disease.

Okay thanks, That's all I was wondering because I had been told by many people that I could get it but then I was told by other's that I couldn't so I got all confused.

This has cleared it up for me thanks Smile

Regards,
Boden.
