Q: Info about Lupus ?

My doctor ... Well I guess you could say he 50% diagnosed me with Lupus.

He said I tested positive for Lupus but that it is often misdiagnosed or confused with something else. So, he sent me for more blood work. When I asked him what the hell Lupus was he said "I'd rather not talk about it until you're properly diagnosed if that's the case." So, typically I googled it. It seems rather harmless, well compared to something worse that I could have had. A bunch of diseases that attack your healthy tissues (so you just sick easier than most people)

Is that all Lupus is? Because my doctor hyped it up like I would be dying in a month if I had it, but it's not fatal. So... am i missing something?

Thanks.

There is most probably quite a few cross-over's so I suppose that is why Lupus is misdiagnosed a lot...

I stand under correction but...if I were to describe my symptoms to a doctor, he would most likely also diagnose me as having Lupus, which would not be the case.

Connective tissue disorders, for example, can cause a person to have a lot of inflamation, due to lax joints which might seem like lupus as the person doesn't have any recollection of injury. Further more, inflamation spreads if not treated and can cause sensitivity in other body parts.

Even though I do not have Lupus...one thing, that someone knowledgeable in Lupus, might be able to help me with... As I said, inflamation spreads...why is it that Doctors main concern allways seem to be with it spreading? What is the danger of inflamation spreading? Is that similar to a Lupus affect where healthy cells start being attacked?

infos about Lupus
Lupus; for starter it's called the thousand faces illness...not for nothing believe me, i am in a new flare ups , my 3rd one in 2 years, and i have to be honest with you ...it's a living hell and i have all the treatment in the world that i could have , i am also lucky to have a husband that has a good job to support me in every possible ways; i need to have aqua fitness class in a therapeutic pool(controlled heat), massage therapist, psychotherapist, etc. you name it and i have a cleaning lady ; I am just 39 years old , i can't work anymore, had the Dx in 2005; almost all my organs are ruined, including muscles ... i don't want to be dramatic here but if i were you i would read books , search internet , try to join a support Group about Lupus or Arthritis, you must have local branch's and talk to your Dr, if he or she is not open to run tests or give you infos , try to change, communication with DRS and specialists are the key to have a better quality of life; Thank God for what i have left and all the support i have .

You can't die of Lupus, but we can certainly die of everything else that Lupus is causing us!

Take care,
Barbie Doll
