I posted this in answer to someone else's post but thought it worth having a discussion with everyone.

I have been told that if my insurance company even get a clue that I am using fertility treatment to get pregnant then they will not cover the pregnancy - as far as I am concerned that is a huge infringement of the rights of people who suffer from fertility issues - does anyone know of this kind of thing? I was told this by the doctors office...I wonder how many people were not aware of this and approached their insurance company and then found they were without coverage.

Just a word of warning - best check with your ob-gyn about your insurance coverage before speaking to the insurance company.

Any lawyers out there? Is it possible from a legal perpective that fertility challenged people like me can be discriminated against like this?

That's crazy. But I believe that big time from US insurance. They will look for any excuse not to pay you.
