I have had a problem with bladder and kidney infections since I found out I have Type2 diabetes. My diabetes is under good control but I still have infections. I have ended up in the emergency room several times and was once admitted to the hospital for a week.
To make matters worse,I fell off a ladder and badly broke my leg. I have not been able to walk for 2 months and it looks like another 2 months. During this time,I have had 3 bladder infections.
Even with insurance, this has been terribly expensive and SO hard on my husband.
I've tried everything to stop these infections but nothing is working. I have one as we are speaking. To make matters even worse,I have a condition called urethral stenosis that causes bladder inflammation. These are usually treated with a dilation. Going back and forth to the dr. for these has left us financially in trouble. My poor husband has to take time off work to get me to the dr.
Needless to say, this has been badly affecting our marriage. He's just about had it.
Any suggestions on how to control these infections?

So sorry to hear this and how it's affecting your marriage.
Are you drinking enough fluids (cranberry juice, water)?
Keeping your diabetes under control is also important which it sounds like you are doing...Smile

Thank you
I feel I have done everything I can to try and stop these. I am very depressed about it. Almost 3 months ago,I fell off a ladder and broke my leg. It's cost us,thanks to our insurance company (if that's what you want to call it),$6,000. That's a crying shame. I've been hospitalized twice with kidney problems....$3,000. All because I committed the sin of accidentally hurting myself and getting sick.

infections and urethral stenosis
I hope you have been seeing a board certified urologist and have had cystoscopy, pyelograms and other studies to rule out all possible causes of repeat UTI's. I have a history of urethral stenosis with requent UTI's in the 1980's. I saw my urologist every 3 months for a year, then every 6 months then once annual for awhile. Thigs settled down for years. Occasional UTI, but not on top of one another as before. I had all the other tests mentioned to rule out everything else, first. Now I just had a urethral dilaitation today, but now I present with a different proble. NO UTI's but microcscopic blood in the urine. Cystoscopy showed inflammation of the bladder even though no test showed I had a UTI. Cancer tsts were negative. I would feel better about this if there had been a UTI!
You didn't mention your age. Postmenopausal women have a greater chance of UTI's too. As you know, so do people with diabetes. Do you void before AND after sexual intercourse? Before to prevent bladder being hit and afterwards to wash out any bacteria that may have been milked into the bladder. Do you drink caffeinated drinks? Caffeine is a bladder irritant. I used to get UTI's every time I cheated and drank regular tea. I have had experience with all this as a patient and also as a nurse provider. It sounds like you have a poor insurance plan. Your company or your husband's company picked poorly!
