I am so confused! My Ped noticed that my son had a few petechiae (broken blood capillaries under his skin) about a month ago. She said if it got worse to bring him back... Well... it's WORSE, WAY WORSE! I was sent o the ER, blood work was fine except for high White Blood Cell count & high Lymph count. They are at a loss because he has NO fever & NO other symptoms. Has this ever happened to anyone else? HELP!!! They are sending me to an Infectious Disease doctor now... I am so confused. Can anyone HELP?!?

Sorry no one got back to you? How is your baby and what was the diagnosis? Was it ITP or similar disorder?

Petechiae
My son also had petechiae a month ago. I took him one day and had bloodwork done. Platelet count was slightly elevated, but not absnormal. The same for red and white blood count. Pedetriac team at the hospital ended up chalking it up to a viral infection.
However, here we are a month later and he has petechiae again. It is certainly disconcerting. Did you ever receive a diagnosis for your son?

My daughter is 5 months old and she had one purple-red spot on her wrist and today she had two more on her leg. I was researching for the possible cause of this sudden spots and I came across the word petechiae. It sounded like something scary, so I am taking her to the doctor tomorrow. I will let you know what the doctor said. If any of you have any other info, please let me know. Also, I don't understand how this can be worse? how can I tell if I have to take my baby to the ER? I don't want to wait until is worse.
