Lungs and Respiratory Disorders Answer A5735

Current medical status: When seated or laying down, I have minor yet persistent breathing issues. I find myself not involuntarily inhaling, other times I need to take deep breaths. I have to focus on the breathing and feel sensations in my chest on both sides at random intervals. Physical exertion doesn't aggravate or even cause this issue, it seems restricted to when I am at rest. I have never had problems breathing before last fall.

The data you reported is not sufficient for any exact diagnosis to be given. Instead, assumptions can be made. What you experience might be an asthma-like condition. When you visit your doctor, he might want to do respiratory tests and see if there is an inflammation of the airways.

Your symptoms might also be related to neurological problems affecting the control of the breathing.
None of the previous suggested diagnoses can be treated without adequate testing first.
