Extremely eHealthy
Recurrence of hernia is the most common long-term complication of hernia surgery.
The alternatives to first-time and recurrent incisional hernia repair begin with preventive measures like losing weight, strengthening abdominal muscles through regular moderate exercise such as walking, tai chi, yoga, or stretching exercises and gentle aerobics, reducing abdominal pressure by avoiding constipation (high-fiber, low-salt diet), learn to lift heavy objects in a safe, low-strain way using arm and leg muscles.

Best wishes!

Hole developed after kidney transplant
I had a kidney transplant surgery on Nov. 3, 2008. When the surgeon took out the staples, the top part of my stomach
started to crack open a little each day and after three days it had developed into a hole about 3/4" wide and round and
about 1 to 1-1/2" deep. The surgeon let a student resident do my surgery without my knowledge and he didn't tell me that
he was going to insert mesh into my abodomen. He inserted mesh all the way down my abdomen to the bottom of the first scar
from the transplant surgery. I have been miserable ever since he put the mesh in my abdomen. It bothers me most down at
the bottom of my stomach. It constantly sticks me and presses hard against my stomach. Also it pulls my stomach and moves
over to the side of my stomach and is very irritating. There is alot of mesh in there especially at the bottom or it feels
that way to me. Can part of this mesh be taken out at the bottom and sewed up with sutures? Is it possible for this mesh
to be removed and repaired over to make it more bearable for me to live with as I'm not able to drive very far or sit in
a chair or sitting position very long. This mesh has ruined my life. I had planned on going back to work after my transplant surgery and now that's not possible with all the pain and misery I'm going through. What can anyone do to help
me get a solution to my problem. Thanks, Sandra

MandMs, gave you the wisest advice that anyone can give you...I believe this would also pertain to your newest surgery...Lose weight...This weight is putting a strain on your whole body...The kidney surgery is no exception...By getting rid of the larger stomach, the skin will come together...Competent surgeons teach students by letting them assist in an operation...They are there to help at all time...I am sure the operation was done correctly....I know this for a fact, as my husband recently had a hip replacement and I was able to meet the new resident who assisted him...Believe me I did not feel cheated as I knew that our Orthopedic Surgeon was at his side...

Back a few years ago my husband had some problems with a previous hernia surgery...It came originally from a gall bladder surgery...They did this with simple stitches...After the surgery, he gained weight...The hernia again appeared...Then they went in again to put in the mesh....He gained some more...Then one more time in for more mesh....He then devoped a pre-diabetic problem...This scared both me and him...We saw a specialist at the Clinic and he went on a prescribed diet cutting out many carbos....Lost near 50 pounds...Boy, is he a hot man now...Changed everything about him...Me too.. Smile ...He has a 15 pound limit for lifting, but all his added perks are worth it....All this because of losing the weight...

I believe that this is your answer to your problem...We just came from the store...We now have 98 of one of the better brands of diet dinners in the freezer...Actually we have 3 and one half freezers...I believe in investing in our health...When you learn something about yourself and your health you stay with it.....You just may want to try it...You will like it...

Good luck,

Caroline
