incision through belly button peircing, 4 wks later pain?

Hi, about four weeks ago I had laproscopic surgery to remove my gallbladder they made four incisions one of which was through the upper part of the hole of my belly button. I have a belly button peircing and the surgon cut through it, I was concerened with this to begain with thinking that it would allow more opportunity for infection because there is further opening to the outside of my body than if he had went directly in with out cutting through the peircing. But, what do I know i'm just the patient. Anyways with most people that incision hurt the worst but the pain went away. Now four weeks later the pain has returned, it hurts to the touch again, it is a little pink but not red, there is no heat, but it is hard between the upper hole of my peircing and the bottom hole. all of the pain is above my belly button as I've read lots of people having pain on the left I wanted to be sure to make clear it's not on the left. Could this be an infection maybe in the peircing because of the inciasion going through it? Or the begaining of an infection? or is this normal? have you ever heard of another surgon going through the peircing? I could care less about losing the peircing but I don't understand why he went throough it now I'm scared it's maybe the cause for an infection, is this possible?
