Q: Improving diet

Hello there - gent with an eating disorder looking for a poke in the right direction...

For my entire life I've eaten nothing but toast - very primarily toast, cereal (primarily Special K), various biscuits (previously with cheese, stopped since) and smatterings of junk food here and there, and recently I've come into a severe drained feeling with no energy to do anything. Whilst this symptom is most likely burnout from my highly perfectionist lifestyle, my abysmal diet isn't helping any. I suspect this drained feeling may very well be because of a lack of nutrition.

Here's my question: What should I start eating, to get the most energy, the best start to a perfect diet from where I am?

Thanks a ton in advance.

Hi, welcome to this forum.

First of all, you may seem to have nutrition doubts, so this should be on that forum (as well), but I am concerned that you may suffer from an Eating Disorder (you don't mention it clearly...).

Then, my advice would be to eat a bit of everything: dairy products, cereals, fruit, vegetables, meat, fish, you name it. That's what makes it more balnced: having a bit of everything. Some things will give you energy, some will cheer you up, etc. All of them are needed. Smile

Yes - sorry, should have cleared this up:

I do have an eating disorder, in that the thought of any new food makes me physically uncomfortable at least and strongly repulsed at worst, which is usually the case. Today I tried some museli and almost choked eating it, as it included raisins. I tried fat-free yoguhrt (vanilla) and I swear I could have thrown up, and have since been retching violently for half an hour, if not more, since trying two quarter-spoonfuls.

But my diet needs fixing and I'd likie to know where to start which would be the most effective.

Thanks in advance and sorry for being unclear.

You do not need to apologize, sweetheart. I, as a moderator, try to understand the most of what each one of you say, so it's common to see me asking some questions.

Well, if yoguhrts don't seem to help, try to have milk shakes, or just fruit shakes, while you eat the cereal. Have you ever tried it? Milk may sometime take a lot to be digested, it's common, so don't get upset if you don't feel ok. But try to see new foods as something appealing. Smile
