I am in a relationship with a man who has just quit taking opiates (three weeks now).l He had been on some form of opiates for six years. Is impotence a side effect suffered during the withdrawl process even though most other symptoms of withdrawl have disapeared? Or should I be worried about hus feelngs toward me?

I would have thought impotence would be more of a direct result of opiates, seeing as they weaken the urine stream, not a result of opiate withdrawal. But who knows? Maybe it takes a number of weeks for things to begin operating normally after cessation of use.

As far as I'm aware, besides overcoming withdrawal, there shouldn't be any major side effects to opiate use.
