My girlfriend recently got the implant and is having both issues. I pray for both our sakes the mood swings stop. Its been making her manic with depression and anger which she constantly takes out on me. I feel like I'm walking around trying not to step in shards of glass when I'm home. Anything and everything sets her off.

I had the implant for a while now and it has really affected my mood. Since I had the implant put in, my mood swings have gotten really bad and I've completely lost my sex drive. It's very good contraception but I don't think the emotional side effects are the best so I am planning to get it removed soon and going back to cerazette but since it is the same hormone, it might still affect my mood. Good luck

I feel your pain wutango!!!! I'm in exactly the same position now!!!! For example 10 mins ago I've just had my head chewed off for mearly tidyin up!!! Doesn't matter what I do or say I get an ear full...... I don't know how much more I can take!! And all these forums say the same things!! Great contraception but a complete life destroyer... My missus is doing her best to loose the baby weight too, using diet pills I used myself and worked wonders but she's getting cravings!!

Feeling fairly depressed at the moment.
My girlfriend has the implant in now for about 4 and a half weeks. Three of those weeks she has been on her period, so the advantages of the implant arn't even there!
Everything I do she becomes annoyed at me. It's bringing me down a lot as all I want is to make her happy, but despite my efforts she will just become more irratated.
I love her so much, I just wish that could be enough for her. I will not give up on her, as much as it is torture to me I would rather suffer this than not be with her. She is the reason I wake up in the morning, the only thing in my life I truly care about.

You aren't the only ones suffering here:
I feel the pain of the guys on this forum but i can't help feeling a bit angry on behalf of the women. I go the implant and after literally just blowing up at my fiance i'm worried about the mood effects. However (and as i pointed out to him) for 5 years ive paid for the pill to stop us getting pregnant and now ive been through the unpleasant procedure getting this implant put in my arm - why do women have to deal with all the worst parts financially and physically when the only alternative is to then have a baby even though it takes two to tango?!? I just need support while i figure out what our best contraceptive is - not being chewed out for being taken by surprise by the mood swings. Guys you are not the only ones feeling shafted here. Even while i was busy pouring proverbial lava over the most important person in my life i was thinking "shutup ohmygod why are you doing this?"...it's scary to feel like someone else has control of you - you might well be smashing your life to bits and feel like you can't stop it even though you want to.
