It's of course possible but very, very, very unlikely. Implanon is very safe, only fails if you happen to be very overweight and the hormone isn't strong enough, or if there was a problem with the insertion.

Considering your periods stopped when it was inserted, I would say that your implanon is working correctly.

Spotting is normal - some women spot constantly on implanon. All the symptoms you've described can be related to the implant.

So, I can reassure you, but if you're still worried, only thing that will reassure you for certain is taking a pregnancy test, which I'm sure will be negative for you.

Hi, i'm having the same symptoms and evan experiancing kicking sensations! although you say its unlikely could you tell me if i were pregnant and didnt know would the implanon affect the babys health in anyway should i go through with the pregnancy?

I've been wondering the same thing because i have had kicking sensations,spotting,pink discharge,and severe cramps i've been to the doctor and ER and they just do urine test and I believe i need a blood test or ultrasound because its been goin on for months and getting worse. can somebody give me advise?

i just recently got pregnant on the implanon and also miscarried at 3 months becuz i was on it to long without realizing i was pregnant. so be cautious if u feel something get it checked out just to be safe

i have been having the same thing happen to me, i got serval pregnancy tests and all negative, but on oct 15 i got the implanon out and still been having symptoms that i am pregnant. i have been having the smae freaken symptoms since july and all negative tests and nothing to show for in a ultrasound either. the moment i took it out i bleed for 3 days then got sick twice, my stomach is getting bigger by the day so now what do i do. july, august, september, i bleed and had symptoms the october i the symptoms and no period freaked out and got another test negative, took it out got a test that friday still negative, then a week after negative. Now just waiting a little while and i am going to get another test cuz the doc at the er said you wont get pregnant for 1 to 2 years after taking the implanon out, but i have read online that you can get prego right away so now what. so if i am pregnant how far along would i be if i had symptoms since july. also been having kicking motions too. I know what that all feels like I have two kids. Also i had a major pain right under my chest in the upper stomach area before i got the implanon out so yea. i want to know what is going on. done the research and found out alot of things so i think i am going on with i think is best going to wait to see if the symptoms get worse and go farther on.

about the kicking-fact is, you wouldn't be able to feel the baby kicking until you are at LEAST 4 months along. the baby is so very tiny in the first months there is NO way you could feel it kicking. i've been pregnant, so trust me,i know what kicking feels like. also, if he was big enough to kick, your stomach would be starting to show signs of pregnancy. so i would say attribute the kicking sensation to something funky the implant is causing.

I'll have to disagree with this because I jus had a baby ten months ago so I also knw what it feels like when a baby is kickin, I have been on the implanon since last August or September & for some weeks now I've been feelin kicking! It is not true that u have to be 4months preg to feel ur baby kick, I do lots of reading & some moms can feel it as early as up to 10weeks. Also, it is not true that if ur 4minths u will have a bulge, some people go the whole term without looking pregnant at all. & I too have had no period, severe cramps, spotting, cravings, & I've recently become very emitional jus as I was when I was first pregnant with my daughter. The only way to b sure is to get a blood test & possible an ultra sound. I think it's possible I may b pregnant so I'm gonna sched an on/gun appointment.

I am the same, i had my son in oct 2011 and had the implant fitted in jan. I hav been feeling for a few months now exactly how i felt during pregnancy, even down to feeling slight kicking movements. I have done a test and got a negative responce but its always on my mind.

im the same way i go next week to get it taken out and im going to ask for a blood test cuz i would be 4 months along

with my second child i felt kicking from 6 weeks pregnant, so this isnt fully true, it all depends on the individual, one thing i have learnt is go with your own instincts, not everyone has a @textbook@ pregnancy.

Hey, I have been on the implant for a year now, been having on and off periods but this one now I haven't had for about 3 months, I have been getting spotty and having mood swings and having very sore breasts and always feeling bloated but I don't know what to do? Go get a scan to check or go to the doctors to see if its the implantation making me react like this.. If not then I don't know :/ and remember whoever has implant and did get pregnant or are YOU CAN SEW THE COMPANY because its only 1% of getting pregnant with this implant and 99% you can't so..

You can't sue the company for getting pregnant, thinking that is simply asinine.

when i got on the implanon i was Convinced i was pregnant! i had week to week symptoms and spent alot of nights crying thinking i was pregnant, neg test from hpt and drs didnt convince me - 9 months later i can laugh at myself for being so paranoid

Hi, I've had the implant now for over a year.. and I have recently come on my period and not come off for around 3 weeks. However, some days were just spotting as previously mentioned. This is worrying me as I have just been told I've got shingles... but before being diagnosed my mum asked if I was pregnant, as I have been having cravings, sickness and using the toilet more often then usual. Then I thought I could'nt be because of my period situation, this was then when my mum told me she still had hers all through her pregnancy with my brother. This is a problem as I am house bound due to illness and I do not wish to tell my mum that it could be possible. Please help!

You should be fine hun, i have had implanon n for 2 years now, and i have only gotten my period about 5 or 6 times, like my last period was october last year! so you should be fine, the bar is very effective.

Hey...I'm sorry...I didn't want to be the bubble buster but...I totally understand what she is talking about. I'm not just spotting, I'm having a full period which is out of the ordinary for me cause since I've been on this thing (Jan. 2008)I've had maybe 2 light periods, and I've been feeling fine up til now. I'm tired, I feel fat, I'm moody, and having really commons signs to being pregnant. I know that the chances of getting pregnant are 1 in 100 but, sometimes when you feel unordinary or feel like you did when you got pregnant, it makes you question how well this thing really works you know? This is exactly how I'm feeling, I was in the IMPLANON for 5 years and never bled once, had it removed and had my baby girl who is now 2. 3 months ago i had the NEXPLANON inserted and all has been fine, no periods nothing, then about 2 weeks ago my moods started changing, I've become more and more jealous, bad temper, I'm hot, feeling dizzy when i stand up to quickly, (all of these i experienced when i was pregnant). dont think your pregnant, the implanon does that werid stuff to u, it made me put on wewight there were some mnths i didnt get my period then i would get them every 2 weeks,

the implanon is not like the depo shot. the depo makes you gain extreme amounts of weight while the implanon is only supposed to make you gain 3-5 lbs during the whole 3 year period. ive asked my doctor and several others and this is what theyve ALL told me. sorry. and i know about three people who are pregnant or have had kids while on the implanon. and i myself am in the middle of a crisis hoping and praying im not pregnant because i too have the implanon had it for about three months now and i have a ten month old . im not ready for another kid yet so im hoping its all in my head but im having symptoms too. i usually bleed a lot every day but it has stopped or been really light crimson-brown ish. and i had a clear gooey liquid come out. im really worried.

Hi just wanted to comment on your situation, I have 4 kids. I had gotten the implanon a year ago and I might be pregnant, I took a test 4 days ago and it had 2 lines unless I am reading the test wrong. I can't have anymore kids at this moment so I pray its wrong.

which test did u take because i got the cheaper test from tesco and if you get two lines, one in the control panel and one in the other box, that means you are pregnant. Mine came out negative twice but im worried because ive had implanon in for about 9 months and had constant bleeding with only a day or two breaks i now havnt bled in about 11 days have had bad stomach pains, milky discharge, movements headaches dizziness nausia. i went to the doc and after a quick feel she put the pain down to stress and wouldnt consider it possible to be pregnant whilst on implanon but i feel so different and its got to the point where people are looking at me and asking if im pregnant

Theres always false negitives but theres no such thing as a false positive! just a fact to keep in mind.

Actually you can have a false positive on a pregnancy test... It's more common than you would think.

False positives only happen if you are on hormone treatment to get pregnant. The tests that detect pregnancy 1wk early can be "false positives" if you were actually pregnant & miscarried early on, which is fairly common.

i have felt the same way and have taken many different test, all neg. i talked to my doctor and hety kept saying i couldnt be pregnant, so i told them i wanted a sonogram to prove me wrong.... it helped a lot i woudl try to talk my doctor into it cause me and my friends had to and 2 of us were pregnant outta all 6 of us and i will never use the birthcontrol again. im hoping this helps everyone... i know how scary it is.. i have a ten month old also so.. lets hope for the best

That's totally normal. While on Implanon it's totally normal to not have a period. My three years of Implanon will be over in October of 2012, So I've had it in my arm for almost three years. I have never had one period since I've been on Implanon. Because of this, it may make you scared, especially at first when I was. It makes you a lot more paranoid because your normal periods before Implanon aren't happening at all. I would often times get super paranoid in the first couple of months, but after that I just realized that I was worrying about nothing. However, I have just recently (yesterday) started getting some very very light discharge from my vagina. It's a brownish color (old blood) and I'm worried that it's implantation bleeding. Anyone have any advice?

Hey, I know where youre coming from. I'm 19 and although I have not had much weight gain, Im a little worried. I think I am actually loosing weight. My breasts hurt so ba. theyre tender and sore and my boyfriend thinks they are growing too. honestly ladies all of you i think we are all over reacting if you think your pregnant dont have insurance go to plan parent hood rather than sitting on here and writing that you r scared you should be out there doing something about it. i think we all secretly want to be pregnant or want attention and thats why we are all on here complaining... but if you really are pregnant than its a blessing dont overlook it any other way than that everything happens for a reason if your pregnant then it was suposed to happen and trust me it will make you a better person cause me being a mother it most certainly made me a better stronger individual.. but really ladies dont be scared this stuff happens its the way of life its just how you handle it that you should be thinking about. handle it with care honor faith and courage be strong ladies cause in the end its just us and our babies

i had this fitted and it made me constantly bleed for 3 months straight and made me feel generally sick, i asked the doctor to remove it cuz it purely was not agreeing with me and they said i had to leave it 4 or 5 months to let it try and regulate and it never did so it was awful for me and it also made me put on masses of weight. it does have bad effects .

I'm having the same issues right now... am on my second Implanon - had my first for 4 years, and got a new one 4 months ago. Two weeks ago I started getting nausea, firstly in the morning, now it comes & goes all day. I don't have any other symptoms of any sickness. I also have increased sense of smell. Everyone including my doc thinks I'm PG even though 3 HPT have been negative. I've been for blood tests today to double check for pg & also to see if the nausea is being caused by something else. I'll have the results in a week.

On my first Implanon, I had no bleeding for 12 months, then almost constant bleeding for the next 3 years, which I hated. But, I have had the second one put in because I'm hopeless with pills & injections and tried the Nuva-ring in between my 1st & 2nd Implanon & it totally screwed me around with worse bleeding & constant thrush. This time with the Implanon, after the first 4 weeks I haven't had any bleeding (love it). Shall let you know what the pg result is next week.

Can somebody help me. I have been on implanon for two years now. Was getting regular periods every month normal,than up to twice a month was getting two periods. The beggining and the end of the month. I had the Implanon inserted in October,2007...Here it is June,2009. The first and second of this month I had a very light period.The 3rd,4th,5th nothing.Then the 6th comes around and get a bright red spot.After that nothing.The 13th rolls around and that's where everything went down hill. "I wiped mysel and it was very mucusy with brownish pinkish coloring. I have to pee a lot,dizzy,head aches,cramps,bloated,gassy,constipation,jo lted shooting pains in breats,heart burn,sleepy,hungry a lot,and getting "sick".Please help me. I took a hpt and it says negative. Am I or am I not pregnant? Can anyone help me?

Hey im the same way, i got Implanon almost 2 years ago and all went well until 1-2 months ago. I never have spotting, cramps....nothing, however now, i have been having spotting that would last a weeks and go away for a couple of day and then come back for about a week. Now when i wipe, i have a lot of mucus down there. Every time i wipe, i have this mucus that is long and more less white a cloudy and at times a very light pink...kinds samony color. I just had sex a months ago for the first time in 7 months, so im kinda worried that i might be pregnant. I got on here to see if anyone has had false positives to see if i can do hpt or if i should go in to the doc. I have been getting dizzy for months now, just out of nowhere. Im starting to get tired and not wanting to do anything, but i think that is more about gaining a little weight. Just hang in there, i keep asking my mother, (OB/GYN) and she says that im fine, but i think it's a quick way out.

Hey I have been on birth control since i was 13 years old because I have always had irregular periods and about a year ago I got the implanon and at first I could of swore I was pregnant. I had the tiredness, the cravings, the sickness, the bloating..ect. and I couldn't base it off my periods because I haven't had one in almost 2 years so I took and pregnancy test and it came out POSITIVE!! i waited a day and took another one with the same results and I went to the doctor and got a blood test and it came out negative.. i was a little confused and disappointed but the doctor told me i had these symptoms because of the change in bc and the hormone imbalance in my body so that's y it came out positive with the home test. so the best thing to do is to go see your doctor and have them do a blood test.

im 27 and i have the implanon as well i have had no pregnacie the common effects of this thing is bloating weight gain nausa head ach bloody nose and some bleeding at times if u really feel ur not ur self go check with ur obgyn

I got implanon about 7 mths ago 6 weeks after I had my 4th surprise baby (i was on pill). Right after it was inserted I had a pretty heavy and long bleeding (long as in more than a usual period would be. it lasted like 10 days). It was crazy because I had just gotten done with post preg bleeding. I haven't had a cycle since. But just yesterday I started having very light brown spotting and I've really not had that before. Anyone get it like that out of the blue while on this? I havent' really had a cycle since Jan 2006 because I got preg then was bfing and I don't have cycles while nursing and then I got preg again while on pill and weaning my 3rd and since then been bfing again. I guess you could probably count the odd bleeding right after implanon insertion as a cycle but other than that it's been years for me. Only other spotting I've had was when preg but praying that isn't the case I'll flip!

Thanks for replying to my question. i had just got my implanon takin out and trying to get pregnant. Does anyone know how long it takes to get pregnant. I'm 23 and i was 21 when i was pregnant with my first one ever. I will say I was really fertile with her could i be really fertile now after i had my implanon takin out yesterday?

i got caught within 2 weeks of having mine taken out was huge shock how fast it happened!!
it was removed nov 14th n i tested positive dec 2nd...!!

i too have got caught, I had my implant removed on the 24/04/11 and did two test on the 16/04/11 which were positive - we only had unprotected sex twice!!

iv been on the impalant for 2 and a half years. about a months ago i was takin st johns worts only to find out that it can cause the implant to stop working. I have had a period which was different to the rest in colour, it was a very bright red and i had no pain with it which is unusual. Since my period i have had really bad thrush and although iv treated it, it seems like it is coming back, i look and feel bloated everyday, iv been getting hot flushes and now have to sleep with the window open even if it is cold outside, i havent been going to the toilet more but one min i wont need the loo then i will really need it. I have been getting short sharp pains in my belly and legs and along with this i am very tired i sleep all night and dont get up until the afternoon but feel as if i need to go back to sleep! Could i be pregnant or am i just worring over nothing please help!!

Okay so it seems that afew people on here have now had the same problem as me....i have had the implanon for 2 years and 5 months now but after 2 years and one month i fell pregnant. And again after 2 years and 5 months. I have miscarried both times and had exact same as mritchey up there. I am getting the feeling that the implanon (for some people) is not as effective after the first 2 years! surely we should be letting someone know. I for one will be going to my doctor and requesting a new implanon inserted...i will let you all know how it goes

hi i think i am pregnant and they inserted the implanon i dont know but even my whole family is asking me if i am pregnant. yes they took a urine test but i think they should have done a blood pregnancy test because i might still be pregnant wat should i do

i also feel pregnant... i get very hot... and ive been thirsty... and my tummy has been killing me... ugh... ive had my implanon in since oct. 13 2009... and my brother his gf and my fiance all ask if im preg cause ive been moody... hungry... ive had to pee alot... and my hips are killing me... my head has been hurting and i havent had a period since beginnning of last month!!

I have been on implanon for 3 months now, the first 2 months I got my periods at the right time. Now I've had sex whilst on it I haven't got my period!
I feel bloated and fat ALL the time, like someone's pumping up a balloon in my stomach. I'm constantly hungry and getting random stomach pains. Anyone else had this??
I've taken a home pregnancy test and it was negative - are they still acurate when you've got the implant?

Seeing as nearly every one here has said similar things I don't really see the need to describe all the details, however I am only in my 3rd week of having implanon and am feeling very sick every day for almost a week now, bloated stomach, constantly tired and dizzyness so I am going to go to the dr's sometime throughout this week and I will comment back with the results and details to try and answer some of your questions x

i been feeling the same way ive been on implanon since aug of 08 and i got my period like 2 or 3 times this whole time ive been feeling prego lately i did 4 pregnncy test 1 came back positive and the rest came back negative so i really dont know!i do think im pregnant though and everyone says its not possible

Hello everyone...I've been on the implanon for a year in a half.Before then i was on the depo but my period has never changed when i switched.I never have full cycles always just spotting which i loved up until 4 weeks ago i had to take antibiotics for a week and after that week was up i've ben bleeding non stop so i've had i cycle for almost a month now i've seen that antibiotics can make birthcontrol less effective and this bleedin is totally out of the normal for me... could i b pregnant?

I had implanon inserted in Oct of 08 and just took a preganacy test and it is positive. My doctor told me that if you get pregnant while implanon is in it will be a tubel preganancy. My doctor told me for the first two weeks to use protection, after that we don't have to. I did bleed in Nov. Then in June 09 I bleed and that's when I got pregnant before I had that period. How can I be pregnant?

hi i am 19 nearly 20 and already have a two year old child i have had the implant in for just under a year and i am not over weight yet i have recently started producing breast milk and have had a solid stomach for just over two months.... could i be pregnant? i really don't want another child and have tried to do everything i can not to fall pregnant yet it still happens. i am too scared to go to the doctor to find out please please please help me

I am also having the same problems. I've done 2 home pregnancy test and one from my ob-gyn and they all came out negative. Did you ever go to the dr to find out if you were or not and if you did were you pregnant??
