Q: Imbalance for years

It all started 11 years ago...I was 20 years old - and woke up with major vertigo and ears ringing...Room spinning - vomiting - the works. To make a long story short I was diagnosed with Viral Labrynthitis as there was no hearing loss...imbalance/disequilbrium continued on for about 6 months and then subsided...Since then I have had 6 attacks like this is the last 11 years. Imbalance being the worst of all symptoms sort of a brain fog tightness in ear feeling. I have however developed some tingling sensations in hands and feet and at times ever so slight tremor in left hand...

I have seen 4 NEURO's - 1 MS Specialist - have had 6 brain MRI's - 1 full spinal MRI - all negative...Spinal Tap (which I will never do again as I had the worst headache ever for 2 months) which was negative - evoked potentials - emg which was negative - and a number of clinical examinations that were negative also. The only sort of abnormal test I had was an ENG testing balance which seemed to point to some time of Central Nervous System abnormality which my Neurologist didn't even regard...

So here it is - Do I give up testing? All i have been left with is many bills and a possible inner ear virus that messed up a lot of internal things...Not sure where to turn - All my Neuro's have said that whatever I have seems pretty benign and the MS specialist said she'd see me again but said all my work up prior is fine and doesn't expect to find something...

Would something have shown up now - I am now 31 have dealt with this 6 times in 11 years - all which leaves me out of whack for a solid 6 months with no name nor diagnosis...Anyone with any ideas or medical info for me - please help!

thanks so much

Have you been seen by an ENT (Ear, Nose & Throat Specialist).
