mother had olfactory hallucinations
Who made the diagnosis? Did that doctor explain/offer a treatment? Is your mother elderly, has she had sinus problems, what medicines does she take, does she have migraines, has she been diagnosed with Alzheimer's? There is no one proven treatment, and many people suffer for years. Has she seen an Ear Nose Throat specialist, had a CAT scan, have you considered going to one of the Institutes that study smell- like Monell in Philadelphia (there are others).

Hi Yoda420
Really good to have a response... Doctor has made a general diagnosis at present but has arranged an MRI scan appointment for her but my mother says there is nothing wrong with her so says she will not attend!? She has been treated for UTI for quite a while but this is not too much of a problem now according to her dr. My mother is accusing her neighbour of throwing stink bombs over the fence which is bonkers! My mother speaks of a 'Flash' of light (she says its the stink bomb going off) then the foul smell follows so bad she is unable to stay in the same room/choking/weakness of arms and funny head. I've done some research on the web and it looks like she's having seizures? If this is the case I wonder what these seizures are building up too? Her mother and father died of Stroke so I wonder if she will go the same way. Its a real shame at the end of her life she is so troubled but I keep telling her we can make things different but its in her hands but she refuses to listen because she totally believes there is a smell. She has had wonderful support from the Gas/Police/Environmental/Council/Family etc. We're in the UK. Many many thanks for your reply.
