We have a house in Andalucia up in the mountains of the Subbetica. This summer we have been bitten by a small flea like insect with wings that jumps around. Its bite is like a short sharp pin prick. I personally don't react but my husband and other visitors find that the itching continues for some day. The bite "site" is a redenned spot. It seems to be most active at night. It is generally very dry during the summer months, mosquitoes are around but don't seem to bother us too much. It has been suggested that it may be a sort of sandfly but there are no permanently damp places where it could breed. Any ideas gratefully received!
