Q: IBS symptoms and their frequency
asked by: DoctorQuestion on November 19th, 2008
well, of course, after my diagnosis for prostate cancer i have become hypersensitive to anything else wrong with my body and the bowel symptoms have persisted. they don't interfere with work but they seem to be exacerbated by work---stress tends to make me drink constantly---green tea, some coffee and that makes me pee more. bowel symptoms seem to be triggered by the frequent urination to some degree. i did do a mini cleanse with milk thistle and some laxatives last month---a two week cleanse---bowel movements seem to always be a light brown and thin for the most part. also, i seem to have a slightly numb feeling in the rectal area. i'm staying in good shape, take pilates classes--the dull aching feeling in lower abdomen seems to have started about the same time as the classes-two months ago. could some of the stretches and leg lifting (pilates all about strengthening core ab muscles) cause this achiness?
could this all be ibs or something more serious?

Given the information you provided, the bowel symptoms are probably due to irritable bowel syndrome. The symptoms in most diseases appear every day of the week. The fact that the bowel symptoms do not appear during weekends indicates that an irritable bowel syndrome might be the real problem. Any problems with exercises can cause pain in the adequate muscles that is usually sharp and stronger rather than dull.
