Hi!
I've been using contraceptive pill (diane 35) for almost a year now. I had my period 2 weeks ago and I'm on my 6th pill last friday. I forgot to take the 7th pill the following day (saturday) and had unprotected sex on that day. I took my 7th and 8th pills at the same time the next day (sunday. Am I still protected?
Thanks!

Birth Control Answer A36366
Hi,
Welcome to ehealthforum,
If you have missed only 1 active pill, but have followed the missed-pill-protocol, you should remain protected. Continue to take the pills at scheduled time daily. Avoid missing any further pills. Wait and watch for your periods. Look out for development of any other new symptoms if pregnancy is suspected. If periods do not start within 10 days of expected period dates, or if you get abnormal periods, or if you suspect chances of pregnancy, consider visiting your doctor/gynecologist at the earliest for thorough examination (to confirm pregnancy related changes/signs in body) and blood/serum HCG level test (to confirm/rule out pregnancy accurately). Be in regular monitoring and follow-up with your treating doctor/gynecologist and report any new/abnormal symptoms immediately. Drink plenty of water. Take adequate rest. Maintain healthy diet and lifestyle. Stop the use of hormonal contraceptive if pregnancy is suspected, or if pregnancy gets confirmed.
Take care.

Yes, I missed 1(one) active pill and I took the missed pill when I remembered it right away but it was 22hrs delayed already from my usual time of taking it and had unprotected sex on that day. I'm planning not to have sexual intercourse for 7days from the time I took my mised pill..would that help? Just would like to know if I am still protected even I'm 22hrs late in taking my pill? What is my stand?..I mean is there a big possibility that I might be pregnant or is more likely not? Thanks a lot.
