Q: I Think I May Be Developing an Eating Disorder

Hi, my name is Emily and I'm 20 years old.

Lately I've noticed some strange behavior in myself, centering around food. I don't have any problems with my body image but over the past year I've been eating less and less, going down to one meal a day before stopping altogether. I don't throw up my meals or anything like that, I just don't eat and I'll fast for days at a time before eating something that doesn't even count as a full meal.

For some reason it takes effort just to eat and sometimes food seems intimidating.

Any advice at all on how to recover or finding out for sure if I have an eating disorder would be appreciated.

I think you need to start eating more. It is very unehalthy for your organs and body to starve. I used to starve and my metabolism shut down completely at the time. It took a long time for me to fix my metabolism. I am able to eat more now, without ever gaining weight. Try eating healthy. Oatmeal, cereal, garden salads, vegetables, and fruit are all low calorie. You will not gain weight, your body gets used to the food.
