I am 18 years old. I have been feeling down for months now; with family and personal issues catching up on my after I had tried to blot them out of my head I feel it is all coming to do surface and I dont think I can handle it. I have so much pressure going on in my life due to exams, family and personal issues and I dont think I have the ability to cope. I have not talked to anyone about it because I dont feel anyone will understand.

here for you
Hey there,
18 is a rough time, I remember. It sounds like you have en awful lot going on, something I can definately relate to. You mentioned not having talked to anyone about it because you don't feel they understand but it seems to me you're open to the idea otherwise you wouldn't have posted the above, for this I applaud you. Recognizing you're feeling overwhelmed is the first step. What I would say is this: remember that YOU are the most important person! exams, family and other issues take backstage when it comes to your health. It's really hard to do good when you don't feel good. Pick one or two people you feel closest to or that are most important to you and try to let them in on your struggle, you'll be surprised at how much they care! Let them be there for you the way you would for them. 2nd: prioritize. No one can be superman or superwoman. It's okay to say no to family functions, extra shifts at work or even birthdays if it means some peace of mind. Schedule out time once a week to do something that relaxes YOU. It's easier to deal when you've got a clear mind. 3rd: You don't have to do this alone. If you are feeling depressed, schedule an appointment with a counsellor at school or elsewhere, they're there to help. If you've just began college or university sometimes they may even be able to do something about your courseload. Lastly, if you don't want to do any of the above, give a crisis line a call, theyre confidential and the other person on the end of the line is there because they want to be there for you (they may have gone through something similar themselves). Best of luck!

exams will be over, and that stress will go away.
and try to find a solution with issues that you have control over(personal issues), and try to except the ones that you have no control over(family issues). try to make the best of it.
do you have any close friends that you can talk to. it's not good to keep things bottled inside.
