I'm SOOO stressed right now. I know I'm overreacting but I can't seem to help myself. My baby won't eat. She is having a nursing strike because she is teething and I'm going nuts. She hasn't eaten since 8 am 7 hours ago but I gave her a little cereal since then. She only fusses and cries when I try to feed her. I don't know why this is bothering me so much but I don't know what to do with myself. It's probably because I'm home alone with her all day and have no one to talk to about it. I just need someone to tell me she is going to be okay and she isn't going to starve! Laughing Help me! Shocked

She isn't going to starve! Babies have a natural instinct to eat - breastfeeding is hard and if she is teething, it probably hurts her mouth.

Have you tried giving her something from a a sippy type cup? Tylenol for her sore gums? Numbing gel?

i gave her some tempra and some orajel. my pump isn't working properly so i hardly get anything when i pump. i've just been offering her the breast as much as possible, which is probably why i'm so stressed because she bites and pinches and arches her back and cries when i try to feed her. she had some oat cereal with pears and a little tiny bit of apple juice in water this morning (from a sippy cup) and i gave her a little more juice and water about an hour ago just to give her some fluids. i don't want to feed her any more solids until she eats. she seems fine, i'm just worried about her weaning herself. oh yeah, and i got my period last night. it's only the second time i've had a period since she was born 7 months ago and the last one was about 3 or 4 months ago. maybe it's related somehow. lately, she has been nursing more at night than during the day.

thank you for responding so quickly though. i'm feeling a bit better already. Smile

That is pretty common at 7 months when she is eating solids. She'll nurse less and less because she'll need less and less for nutrition since she'll be getting it from solids.

hooray. my mom came over and put her down for a nap. i waited for a while and i could hear her on the monitor sucking really hard on her soother so i went in and picked her up and she ate lots. she didn't even wake up! i knew i was getting stressed for nothing but it sure makes a difference knowing she's eaten something.

I know how you feel. My daughter will be 7 months on the 18th and we are going through the same things. She doesn't want to eat and when she does, she doesn't eat very much. I keep being told that things will get better, so hang in there!!
