I am 16 and Today is 9th of January 2012. My period comes every 30 days and was due 35 days ago, this Friday will be the second period I will have missed. My boyfriend of 3 1/2 years and I had been having unprotective sex in the previous months before it was next due so we could have concieved in that time (just to add that a pregnancy wasn't planned). In the last month I have taken 4 pregnancy tests - 2 invalid and 2 negative. It has been 9 days since the last negative test and I still have no signs of my period coming. I have also had days of nausea, have needed to wee more and have been more emotional and tired than usual. What are my options now because I need to find out pretty soon whether I am pregnant or not so I can get on? Help, advise and suggestions very welcome!

Maddielou,

If the negative tests where properly done, far enough after the date of possible conception, then the chances of you being pregnant are actually very small.

However, hormonal imbalances are common in young women. These should be evaluated and treated. You may need to be placed on birth control pills to regulate your cycles.

You really should see a gynecologist. Some family practitioners also do adolescent gynecology. But, since you are sexually active, you should be seeing a gynecologist at least yearly.

The symptoms you are describing can also be coming from the irregular cycles and also from stress. But, you do need to find out if you are pregnant or not. It is very doubtful that you are, but the gynecologist can determine that once and for all.

Again, you really need to be seeing a gynecologist on a regular basis and you need to get your cycles regulated. I'm not going to go into the you should have been more careful, but...you know condoms are easily obtained.

Good luck.
