If your colon cancer can be surgically removed, then this would be the best option for you. If surgery is not an option, then chemotherapy will often shrink colon cancer tumors down enough to improve symptoms of colon obstruction. Finally, when neither of these options is available, or are not effective, then sometimes a stent can be placed by a GI doctor to relieve the symptoms of colon obstruction.
