I had a tubal ligation in 2007. My last menstrual was on 8/6/11 and today is 9/12/11 with no signs of it starting. I have taken 3 home pregnancy tests on different days, all of which are negative. However, I feel as though I might be pregnant. I can not get into see my doctor until next week. Any suggestions?

Hi,
Welcome to ehealthforum,
Sometimes you can have spontaneous recanalization of tubes resulting in pregnancy. Do not delay your visit to your gynecologist/obstetrician. If pregnancy is suspected, it is important to get it confirmed soon and to rule out chances of ectopic pregnancy (which are high in these cases). Urine pregnancy tests can at times keep showing false negative results during early pregnancy. Urine pregnancy test kits usually start showing positive results after about 20 days post-conception (roughly corresponding to about a week after your missed periods) and should always be done on an early morning first urine sample as the concentration of the pregnancy hormone HCG is highest in this sample. Consider visiting your gynecologist for thorough examination (to confirm pregnancy related changes/signs in body) and blood/serum HCG level test (to confirm/rule out pregnancy accurately). An ultrasound scan done would help to confirm if pregnancy is intrauterine or ectopic. If pregnancy gets ruled out, you will need to go ahead with other investigations to look for the underlying cause for your absent periods. Take adequate rest. Drink plenty of water. Maintain healthy diet. Be in regular follow-up and monitoring of your treating gynecologist/obstetrician and report any unusual/abnormal/new symptoms immediately.
Take care.
