Hi, I had sex with my boyfriend last month on 9th of June 2011 and it has been more than a month since our last intercourse. I've been paranoid about pregnancy because none of us wants to have a baby. We had our intercourse when I was on period, and I suppose to have my period on the 9th of this July but until now (it's 15th of July in my country) I haven't got my period. My period is irregular, I can have my period once every three months. I've conducted 4 home pregnancy tests so far and it all turns negative. I did my first test 3 days before my suppose-to-be-period, the day I missed my period, 3 days after I missed my period, and today (5 weeks after our last intercourse). I didn't have any pregnancy symtoms but I'm soo worried about being pregnant. Am I pregnant? Do I need to conduct another home pregnancy test?

P.S: it's nearly 6 weeks after my boyfriend and I had our last intercourse

Hello,

Welcome to the ehealthforum. Your concern is the delayed periods or missed periods. Delayed or missed period is known as amenorrhea. Apart from pregnancy, there are many other reasons for a delayed period.

The other causes are hormonal imbalance like in PCOS (Polycystic ovarian syndrome), stress, obesity, malnutrition, anemia, hypothyroidism, illness, etc. The only way to know whether you are pregnant is to get a pregnancy test done. You can do a home pregnancy test by using a pregnancy kit easily available at chemists but it should be done after 1 week-10 days of your missed periods. Alternately you can also get a serum HCG test done.

I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
