Hi everyone, I'm new to ehealth, and I actually stumbled across this forum looking for some others who could be suffering from the same thing I have.

About 6 months ago, I started getting these *really* bad migraines. Some days, they wouldn't be as bad as others, and I would be able to treat them with triptans, a hot shower, and a cold, dark room. But about once a month, !always! on the day my period would start, I would get the WORST headache of them all. About two months ago, I sought out a neurologist after having a stroke-like migraine. She gave me injectable sumatriptan, maxalt PO, sumatriptan PO, and ambien to help me fall asleep (sometimes thats all I want to do when I have a migraine...you know what I mean?). I've also started on topamax, and all the little headaches have stopped. Little in perspective to the big one I get every month. I've been on that for about two months now, and i'm on the therapeutic dose of 100 mgs.

Even with the imitrex injections, once and then another in two hours when these "mega period migraines" occur, I get little to no relief, and I end up saying "f*** it, i've laid here all night, I want relief, I'm going to the emergency room" where they treat me with dilaudid, zofran, and benadryl.

Even once, that cocktail didn't work. They have to add decadron to the mix if that fails, and it usually takes another 45 minutes to an hour for me to feel better. That's how bad these headaches get. I get so scared when I see that my birth control is nearing its end of the pack. I don't want to get these headaches anymore. I'm going there almost every month, every 28 days like clockwork, and it doesn't look good. I know what us migraine sufferers look like as it is: drug addicts. But I just lay there and toss and turn and I cry...and i'm a freakin' grown woman (i'm 19!!). I feel like each headache is worse than the last and my MRI and CT were both clean...but i'm just getting so frustrated with my condition. Anyone have any advice? Thanks :\
