Q: Hysterectomy or endometrial ablation for cramps ?

I have always had really bad cramps, ever since I got my period. Cramps so bad I am in the fetal position crying and sometimes I vomit because the pain is so overwhelming. I have had surgery to remove cysts from my ovaries and another surgery to remove my IUD; the IUD was causing the cysts. I've never had heavy bleeding, except after this last surgery. I was wondering, is a hysterectomy or endometrial ablation indications for really bad cramps? From all of my research, I can't find anything on endometrial ablation being good for cramps, bleeding, yes but not for cramps. I have no idea what I am supposed to do, I'm honestly considering just living with the cramps. I have 3 kids and am definitely done but I'm only 26. I just need some advice.

I am not too familiar with this procedure...I guess if it was me I would live with the cramps...I had a friend who had this done and still had a lot of spotting...Hopefully someone else will share their knowledge on the subject with you..Either way, good luck...

my doctor suggest that i get a hysterectomy, actually he suggest i get that ablation procedure. he said i have high blood pressure, and i was bleeding a lot without reason. i was so mad at him, i m only 32 years old, and have only one child. i dont want them the cover up my problem but tell me why i suddenly started bleeing for weeks at a time.
long story short, i rejected my doctor's opinion, and birth control regulated my period. it took them a whole year to help me. with tests and surgery.
the doctor's may think that if you get a hysterectomy, and you dont get any periods, you wont that those horrible cramps. but they need to figure out the reason why and treat you.
some lady on this website said she took palmetto herbs and it help her cramps alot.
have you doctor suggest birth control that's suppose to help with the cramps? did he explain the reason why some women get cramps really bad?
im going to private message you some information i thin you should know about.
good luck.

Having a hysterectomy
It makes me angry when people suggest that other people should NOT get a hysterectomy, based on the facts that often they are done without real necessity. I feel thatthe media has also blown it way up into this "Doctors are bad and they are not looking out for your health." You have to be your own advocate, but you need to know that there are good doctors out there that do no perform unnecessary hysterectomies, despite what the media says.

what are you talking about!!!

no one suggested to not have a hysterectomy done.
i only have one child and i may want more, so in my situation i didnt think it would be wise to get it done.
but the poster had three kids, and stated she is finished with having kids. so her situation is different than mines.

God bless
