Hello everyone out there,
My wife had lost her right ovary and tube due to endometrioma more than 2 yrs ago.Now she is 30 yrs old and will undergo another surgical procedure on the last week of this month for cyst removal on her left ovary. However, her obgyn's treatment plan is to remove also her uterus and the entire left ovary including tube. Are there any side effects on this?Does her sex drive will also lost or will affect our sex life after this? Please help..

I would think that the doctor will give her some hormone replacement to help her along with this if she needs it...I believe that a lot of this has to do with how she approaches this surgery...I have been operating without ovaries and a uterus for 25 years and we have a great sex life...Actually better than before the surgery...Many times it is think negative and you feel negative...Think positive and you are hot...Help her along after the surgery...She will take some time to recover, but be there with her all the way....This is a bonus gift to her from you....

I send both of you my best wishes...

Caroline

Hi,Hang in there and be right there with her every step of the way she will need you more than ever with this surgery. I had mine done 16 years ago and I must say I have never felt better! I totally agree with Caroline it is all in what you make of it.. just keep reminding her of the positives.. keep telling her not to be afraid cause once she is over the initial pain of the surgery she will feel better than she ever has.. I will keep you both in my thoughts!! Hang in there.. there are things to help out there if her sex drive does fall off.. I wouldn't worry about it though I don't take any type of hormone replacement and I do not have a problem at all!! Hang in there!!

Sex Drive Post-Hystorectomy
I basically went through the same thing except in the removal of my last ovary and uterus I delivered a baby...this happened on August 6th 2009. I am also 30 yrs old. My sex drive was very high before this surgery...my husband and I had sex throughout my entire pregnancy. Now I have to say that my sex drive is decreased although I still have the desire. Keep in mind that I have a newborn and am not sleeping much and experience a bit of post partum depression. I just dont feel as sexy even though my body looks pretty good for having just had a baby. I am on a very low dose of estrogen replacement therapy..this seems to help stabilize my mood but I dont think it affects my sex drive. Personally, I find myself able to enjoy sex the most when my husband takes it slow in the beginning and pays attention to my feelings. To be explicit, it is difficult to have a "quickie" or to jump right into intercourse. Sometimes it seems to be more fulfilling to mutually masterbate..I say this because I can feel that I produce less wetness inside and it feels different which psychologially reminds me of what has happened. Maybe these things will all work out with time? Good luck to you both...just love your wife as much as you can and be thankful for her health.
