I don't know if this is the place to post
this or not, I just have some questions
and hopefully some people can answer. My
son Ethan, just turned 2 years old and
probably has Hypotheriodism he could have
had it since birth, the hospital said he
did, then he didn't and now at 2 they are
saying he does again, I may be taking
legal actions but thats a different
story.
Anyway if anyone knows about this or their
child has had it please chime in, my son
has some of the symptoms for it and I
really hope he doesn't have mental
retardtion, He doesn't speak yet, get's
really excited about some stuff, runs
laps, stands on his tippy toes, flaps his
arms, etc. We thought it might be Autism,
but the doctor said his theriod was
underactive and he has some Lead in his
blood, this is really hitting me hard
considering I'm only 24 and I was
diagonised with a form of cancer this
year. I guess basically I'm just asking if
anyone's child has Hypotheriodism, if so
what signs did they have, when did they
get diagonised with it and how did the
treatment help? I'm just hoping eventually
he will talk, if they do treatment will we
see any changes? If this isn't a good
place to post, if anyone knows another
forum I'd really appricate it, my name is
Jason and I don't know how often I'll
check this forum but if anyone feels free
to please email me with anything you know
or if you child has the same condition
thank you.

Is your son with shorter stature for his
age?
Did he experience delayed eruption of his
baby teeth?
Does he has puffy facial features?
When he has started to walk?

He is not short, but I'm 6'3
He's teeth do seem kinda erodeted or
something, could be lack of calcuim also
he never drinks milk much and hates it.
I don't think he has a puffy face
He started walking around a year, but it
seems everytime he walks now he is on the
tippy toes or trys to walk/run like that.

I'm glad you read my post.
I understand your concerns and I really
can't get the fact how the hospital
underdiagnosed him.
There is a brief period of time where
children may tip-toe intermittently, and
it would be considered normal for that
brief period of time right when children
first start to walk up until maybe just
after 2 years of age. After that, it is no
longer considered normal to walk on
tip-toes bilaterally.
Did he start tip-toeing within three
months of the initial onset of walking or
later?
Is he doing that occasionally, on and off,
when he is cruising around, especially if
he is walking on a bare floor or he
constantly walks on his tip-toes and find
difficult or impossible to walk
flat-footed without help?
Is there a family history of tip-toeing?
Does you son have a dry skin and sparse
hair?
Have you noticed a soft protrusion around
his navel?
