hi, I've been treated for hashimotos disease for about a 6 months and have been stable for a while. But i don't feel normal.

i hate being like this, I have "mental fog"; i can't concentrate or think quickly or hold a conversation as i either lose track or can't articulate or think quick enough. It's getting really stressful though as I have felt like this for about 2 years and i feel have lost friends over it, who I am and now my exams are coming up but i can't face them like this. My medications and treatments aren't going to change because I'm stable so will i ever feel normal again?? i fought this so long and now I'm supposed to be better but feel even worse makes it just seem not worth it anymore.

Don't lose hope...
I've had it officially for three years, but have lived with "low" thyroid for a LONG time. I got through college and still did really well. I have two children and a great career. Some days are worse than others. "Normal" is a relative term, and I'm not sure what that is anymore.

I'm not going to lie. The "thinking" thing drives me CRAZY. But I just try to laugh about it. I'll be in the middle of a conversation talking to clients, and I am fumbling for a word that I can picture but can't remember. People are usually pretty cool and understand. We are still very intelligent people. Don't let this disorder or the way your body functions define who you are. Your body just works a little differently. You are so much more than your dumb thyroid!

That said. Sorry for the lecure! Are you taking the generic or name brand Synthroid? I have tried both, and the name brand worked SO much better for me than the generic. Just a thought.

Take Care!
